Steve Munsey
Senior Pastor + Christian Speak & Author, Religious Institutions
Hi I'm Steve Munsey! My heart is to see souls saved. My determination is to lift up the cross of Jesus Christ.
Steve Munsey's Bio:
Pastor Steve Munsey lives in Munster, Indiana, part of the Greater Chicagoland Area. Pastor Munsey and wife, Melodye, co-pastor the Family Christian Center (FCC) of Munster, Indiana. His church has a congregation of 10,000+ members and is growing daily. His father, Bishop Frank Munsey (deceased), and mother Ruth Munsey founded Evangelistic Temple in Hammond, Indiana over 50 years ago. He and his family have been serving the Northwest Indiana community for over 50 years in ministry.
When he was still only a teenager, Steve Munsey wrote his first dramatic rendering of the "Passion of Jesus Christ" now known as "Jesus of Nazareth" The Passion Play presented annually in Munster, Indiana.
In 1982, Steve purchased a piece of land in Tacoma, Washington. Partnering with a church in Seattle, he built an outdoor amphitheater complete with a set of old Jerusalem, lakes, hills and valleys for the horses to run, all surrounded by the beautiful trees and mountains of the Northwest. On that magnificent set, JON began its first run during the summer of 1982. That location saw the presentation of His story for more than twenty years, permitting thousands of people to experience their first personal encounter with the Man from Galilee.
Jesus of Nazareth, a Passion Drama written by Pastor Munsey, is seen in many areas of this country, and he has the vision to take it international. The drama draws people to Northwest Indiana not only from the Illinois/Indiana area, but also from all over, even from foreign countries. When Munsey became Senior Pastor of Family Christian Center in 1984, among his first acts was the introduction of Jesus of Nazareth to the NWI/Chicagoland region. Each year, thousands would volunteer by getting involved in the cast, backstage in the crew, costuming and makeup and all the elements needed to put on the production. Fast forward about fifteen years. Family Christian Center outgrew its Griffith facility & built a new church in Munster, Indiana. Pastor Steve had always dreamed of a stage for Jesus of Nazareth on an entirely different scale, so expansive and detailed that the audience would be captivated to the point that they feel transported to faraway Israel, two thousand years ago. One of his highest priorities for this new facility was the creation of a permanent indoor set of old Jerusalem. It was a proud day when Jesus of Nazareth premiered in the new location.Pastor Steve Munsey is also a christian author. One of Pastor Munsey’s most recent books, How to Become a Heavenly Hero, is a Journey through the Bible, where you experience first hand stories of the Biblical “superheroes” as told by Steve Munsey. You'll meet Abraham and Jacob up close and personal, learn from the life Noah and Moses like never before, discover the stories of Daniel and David, and dive into the lives of Joseph and Samson from a whole new perspective. He has also published two books which have exploded across the Christian community: Seven Blessings of the Passover and Seven Blessings of the Atonement. The message of these books has opened the eyes of people around the world to the blessings God wants to pour out on the people who will honor His holy days. Pastor Munsey appears on television across the continent. His program, YES YOU CAN, has been seen across the U.S.A. and is carried by short-wave radio throughout the world. He has been featured in national magazines, newspapers, and network television as a cutting-edge innovator, spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through many venues. His influence is felt not only on the local level, but on national and international levels, also.Steve Munsey also travels across the nation and internationally speaking at churches using his unique creative gift in Illustrated sermons and what people often call "storytime." During storytime, the lights will come and and a music score will begin along with visual media on the screens as Pastor Munsey takes us back into biblical times to illustrate a particular bible story. Storytime originated from his passion to reach this sight and sound generation. Steve Munsey believes that while the message of Jesus stays the same over the years the methods in which we tell the story should be innovative and evolving to reach the next generation.Pastor Munsey lives in Shererville, Indiana with his wife Melodye Munsey. He has 2 children Kent Munsey and Candace Munsey. When he is not speaking or leading at the church, he loves to spending time with his family (especially his grand children), hang out in downtown Chicago with his wife, and mentor young leaders and pastors.
